Our Research Question : Can a group of citizen scientists work together to do an accurate count of macroinvertebrates at multiple sites in a short amount of time?

We hosted a training event and a macroinvertebrate monitoring citizen science event, where 62 community members worked together to complete a full count of the waterbugs at 5 sites across the Bellinger and Kalang catchments.

of participants felt more connected with others and/or an increased sense of belonging from this activity.

of participants had increased awareness, knowledge, skills and experience about citizen science from this activity.
