Rethink Waste at All One Under the Sun Festival

26 May 2024  |  Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia

Joining the All One Under the Sun festivities, the Rethink Team set up educational bin stations providing important messaging around waste.

Volunteers from across the Mid North Coast came together for this event helping event goers to sort their waste, reducing the amount of waste heading to landfill. With huge crowds in attendance, over 820 people attended either bin station, with more than 70% needing help sorting their items.

Given the option to sort items into recycling, compost, 10c items or landfill, the majority of people are keen to take the time to sort and learn more about waste. 71% of ‘waste’ items brought to the bins were able to be redirected to either the yellow recycling bins, 10c container scheme or collected for composting. A HUGE impact on the amount of waste sent to landfill.
