Woombah Garden Visit

August 2022 | Woombah, NSW, Australia

OzGREEN supported the team at the Woombah Wellness Garden’s to host a community event connecting locals, sharing knowledge, food and garden produce!

The Woombah Wellness garden was co-founded by Vic Honey, one of OzGREEN’s Volunteer Community Facilitators in the Resilient Communities program. Working with the permaculture principle of “Start Where You Are, Use What You’ve Got”, the garden was literally created out of nothing on the corner of the main road through Woombah. The Resilient Communities Program supported this venture with a “Let’s Talk Gardens” workshop from skilled gardener and community garden aficionado, Alison Heeley. We covered composting, worm farms and more. Well attended by locals, the workshop helped to inspire local support for this venture. The Woombah Wellness Garden, as you might guess, from its name values the social connection as much as the food growing activities. It continues to thrive as a meeting place for locals who want a hands-on chat and gardening experience in the small hamlet of Woombah.
